San Leandro (Davis Area), CA · Kitchen Remodel

Small kitchen. Big transformation.

This kitchen had accumulated decades of decisions — original 1930s pink tile, single-panel dark wood cabinetry added sometime in the 70s or 80s, and a layout that closed the space off from the rest of the home. None of it was working together, and none of it was working for the family living there.

The renovation started where it needed to — structurally. A wall came down, a support beam went in, and a narrow doorway was widened to finally connect the kitchen to the living space. From there, everything was rebuilt from scratch: matte black cabinetry, walnut floating shelves, subway tile backsplash, and sleek black hardware. A built-in breakfast nook with bench storage replaced wasted corner space with something actually useful.

The result is a kitchen that feels twice the size — and about fifty years more current.
